Great News! Schuyler County Habitat for Humanity has been listed as one of the 183 ENERGY STAR "new builder and developer partners".

From a recent email to Peter Widynski:

"Dear ENERGY STAR partners,

The ENERGY STAR Certified Homes Program has continued to see strong participation in the third quarter of 2014! EPA is pleased to announce that over 22,000 ENERGY STAR certified homes were reported in Q3. During that same period, 183 new builder and developer partners and 12 new Rater partners from all over the country joined the ENERGY STAR program.

EPA would like to thank each and every ENERGY STAR Certified Homes partner for helping to protect the environment, while promoting the construction of new homes that are more energy efficient, comfortable, and have lower utility bills."

June 2013:

On June 3, 2013 the Watkins Glen High School National Honor Society presented Schuyler County Habitat for Humanity a check in the amount of $1000.00 at their induction ceremony.

May 2013:

On Wednesday, May 22, 2013 the Beaver Dams United Methodist Sunday School class presented a check for $400.00  to the Schuyler County Habitat for Humanity. The children raised this money in a 6-month “Noisy Can Collection” for a local mission and they chose to make their donation to support Schuyler County Habitat for Humanity. Our local Habitat chapter is very grateful for their amazing gift! This brings us one step closer to our goal for this summer -- to put in the foundation and construct the shell for our first Habitat Home in Schuyler County. The home will be located on our site on Havana Glen Road in Montour Falls (donated by Marcia Douglas). We were very pleased to see the excitement of these children when they attended our meeting to present their donation – This is what Community is all about!

December 2012:

Another milestone was reached on December 7, 2012. With help from Rebekah LaMoreaux and the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce we held a ribbon cutting ceremony for our first build located on Havana Glen Road in Montour Falls. Even though the weather wasn't the greatest we had a fantastic turnout which is a testament to the enthusiasm our efforts are generating. Our speakers included Dennis Fagan - Schuyler County Legislature, John King - Montour Falls Mayor, Patti Butler - our Co-President, Marcia Douglas - our land donater and Dick Evans - one of our original founding members. This build is dedicated to the late Dave Centurelli. His wife and family members were in attendance and many kind words were spoken about Dave and his volunteerism. We were all very excited to see the local media in attendance - WENY, WETM and The Odessa File. There are stories, pictures and videos of our event on all of their web sites. After the ribbon cutting many gathered again at The Harvest Cafe in Montour Falls for a very generous reception with food and warmth! Thank you Harvest Cafe! You can see pictures of the event on our Havana Glen Build page.

November 2012:
